...because perfect never gets done.
I created this blog in my head years ago, but I never got around to actually creating it. I wanted the launch of it to be perfect so that people would flock to it and appreciate my content with likes, shares, and all the things.
For the past year, I have been telling myself to just start and not be afraid to be seen trying, not only for this blog but for my life in general. Really, perfection is personalized and subjective. I may think I need to do a lot of work and refinement to get it to where I think it is perfect, and you may think my first draft is perfect.
The phrase, ''done is better than perfect,'' has been attributed to several people. Google presents dozens of results, but Sheryl Sandberg is the in the majority of the results I got. I don't know when I first heard it or read it, but in the past year, it has hit differently.
Perfection has cost me a lot of opportunities for personal growth, allowing fear to squeeze me into its grips. Most regrettably, it has resulted in me rejecting myself and telling myself no as a form of protection from facing rejection from others.
These are some of the ways I have applied this quote to my life in the past year:
✔Started a job search for a career pivot in August 2022.
✔Completed a career pivot cohort in February 2023.
✔Schedule a job search power hour for every day in April.
✔ Created this blog and published the first post. Despite what it looks like, the content is genuine and true to me in this season of my life.
✔Created a Youtube channel to accompany this blog.
